It turns out that there is a source of consolation and even joy that is available 24/7, and it's free. Access is mainly a matter of turning inward, upward, and of getting oneself out of the way, that's the sometimes tricky bit. Yet the prize exceeds every other prize.
Surely there must be more to it than that? There is a gradual process of what we might call softening, that enables the obstacles to be cleared and the light to peep in; so you have to walk a bit. And once that happens, well it's all a bit shiny.
There remains the possibility of sadness, and occasional more heart-felt loss, but even that is somewhat sublime. And so we tiptoe into the light, or more precisely the light tiptoes into us.
